There’s a simple way to measurably lower the amount of stress and anxiety that many are feeling right now.
It starts with admitting to ourselves that it’s impossible to really know what’s happening in the world.
This is not the same thing as burying one’s head in the sand.
It’s acknowledging that, no matter how much news or information we crave or consume, we can’t really know what’s going on.
Government-dependent news organizations specialize in providing the masses with information that has been worked over in such a way to keep us stuck in the status quo without actually informing us.
No matter how much news we watch throughout the day, we’re still getting just a tiny fraction of the facts that are relevant to whatever story is being reported.
This means that we may find some truth in their content but it’s often concealed in just enough partial or misleading truths to leave us feeling informed.
As Paul Rosenberg puts it:
“The good news in all of this comes when we accept the facts and stop running our brains on bad information. Yes, it would be nice to know what’s really going on, but we don’t, and there isn’t much we can do about it. So, it’s time to stop treating the news seriously.”
Once we make this choice, it frees us up to seek the truth through our own efforts regarding what’s most important to us rather than what the media tells us is important.
