Years ago, my Yale-trained PhD therapist bluntly told me people with my less common personality type might drift toward mild paranoia when under stress.
Dr. Maggie was not being cruel or demeaning. She used factual clinical knowledge to help me appreciate how stress can influence thoughts, feelings, and personal behavior.
That was an “Aha, now I get it!” moment of comprehension and the knowledge has served me well in the years since.
With that tidbit of personal information in mind, you can determine whether you identify with the following statement.
I may be mildly paranoid, or…
My concern is justified about the direction in which our culture is headed.
I suspect many people and groups in our society are not providing you and me with all the facts, so they have more power to bully, punish, and shame us to their point of view and cause.
Perhaps you, like me, are tired of others telling you what to think and how to behave.
This life is yours to live!
But you need to think strategically about every step along your path.
Polished critical thinking skills provide a solid foundation for your personal strategy.
The coming content in the Bootlegger’s Guide to Critical Thinking IS for you if:
You want more freedom, personal accountability, empowerment, and control over your life.
You are ready to learn a simple system to set and maintain a clear direction for your life based on your personal principles, beliefs, and values.
You value clear-headed thinking to accomplish your goals.
You would appreciate a simple way to confidently define your purpose in life, where you want to go, why you want to go there, and a plan to get there.
You are a self-solving person looking to think more critically and strategically about yourself, your personal moral code, relationships, and life goals.
You want to reach your potential and fulfill your destiny.
The Bootlegger’s Guide to Critical Thinking Is NOT for you if:
You are an intuitive follower, think the world is just fine as it is, and don't need any help thinking deeply or strategically.
You think you are entitled to third-party assistance to make everything okay when difficulties arise.
You don't like reading and thinking.
You don't care enough to put effort into your personal affairs and life direction.
You don't believe conspiring men have infringed on your moral sovereignty.
You think your way is the only way and demand others to live according to your moral code, and you can impose your beliefs on others through force, shaming, bullying, coercion, manipulation, or shame.
Freedom haters need not apply.
Read This If You are a Skeptic
Skeptics might say that there are no benefits to critical and strategic thinking.
That critical and strategic thinking is a waste of cognitive effort.
They would argue that people need highly educated authority figures to show the way because ordinary folks can't think for themselves and will only end up hurt or worse off.
Or..
Skeptics might also say we only need to think about our survival first, then that of our species.
They promote the philosophy, saying that we are supposed to go with the flow and "trust your gut."
And that those people who think critically or strategically are plotting against others.
Think about this, skeptics:
A lack of critical thinking can lead to a variety of consequences.
One is the failure to acknowledge and deal with difficult emotions.
For example, what if someone fails to think critically about the benefits or challenges of their job? In that case, they might stay in that job for years and never realize why they are always miserable.
Another consequence is the inability to recognize "thinking traps."
These are irrational thoughts, but people will believe them anyway. Like accepting that if someone doesn't feel much guilt, they must be evil or think that something has to be wrong because they feel anxious.
It's common for people who need to think more critically about their decision-making process to need help assessing their goals and the best ways to accomplish them. They also miss financial opportunities, have poor interpersonal relationships, and even increase physical or emotional risk.
People need to be clear thinkers because it will allow them to make smarter choices. When thinking strategically, individuals should logically see the benefits of what they want or need.
The bottom line is that you will miss out on a better life by not thinking critically and taking responsibility for your future!
Time to Vote!
I’m not talking about voting for your favorite political candidate.
I suggest that now is the time to decide if you will put effort into creating your strategic plan to promote personal and cultural sovereignty.
From generational Boomers to Zoomers, I hope you are IN!
We can add value and direction to the conversation while working together to promote traditional life skills and reclaim our rich heritage endowed by our Creator, granted by our Founding Fathers, and preserved by the sacrifice of patriots.
