Here is an Interesting Thought
Have you ever wanted to own a small business?Â
You know, be your own boss, set your hours, make decisions, and control your destiny?Â
Guess what…
YOU DO! The family unit is the world's ultimate small business.Â
A reasoned plan founded on principled-based values will firmly plant your life course on a positive trajectory.
Just as a road map enables you to reach the desired destination, a few fundamental strategies for fulfilling desired ambitions can provide the key to successfully dealing with change.Â
The only difference between strategic planning for businesses and families is the key result areas you will focus on.Â
For example, a company will focus on creating revenue by selling goods and services. On the other hand, a family will generate its revenue by its members leasing out their skills and intellectual abilities to employers or directly to the general public in the case of self-employed individuals.
Whether it be comprised of one individual or many, the family is the basic economic organization of any society.Â
A family has most of the same elements of a small business, only on a smaller and more efficient scale.Â
The small number of humans in the organization makes it a breeze to shepherd the decision-making process.Â
Politics and infighting are minimal. When squabbles arise, usually between siblings, they can be quashed by the adult benevolent dictators, Mom, Dad, or both.
Allowing all stakeholders to work as a team to design the family stratagem, experience the results, evaluate the results, learn, and participate in mid-course adjustments fosters ownership of the action plan.Â
Today's contemporary business paradigm of collaboration and team-building trumps telling almost every time.
As you learn and progress through the personal strategery process, you will begin to appreciate the actual capacity for attainment residing within your family.
Explicit direction and methods to meet your needs will be developed. But most importantly, you will experience the gratification of seeing your family mold into a unified group with a clear understanding of shared values and direction. Change will be eagerly embraced with faith and not fear.
A Family of One
If you are currently the only person in your family unit, rejoice! As a "familial solopreneur," you are the most efficient business decision-making unit on planet Earth.Â
Implementing the principles of self-directed living will prepare you to operate your family as a business when you decide to expand your family unit.Â
Like any small business, a family needs clear direction and a plan.
